"My Justice Journey"
All of the great justice movements in history are undergirded with this spirit and power, and they appear to have one focal spokesperson, such as William Wilberforce, Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela and many more who have stood in the face of horrific oppression in order to bring dignity to people that seemingly everyone but God had forgotten.
However, behind every great movement there are literally thousands of volunteers building the momentum, each of which are on their own justice journey. I don’t know what comes to your mind when you hear, Global Prayer Gathering, but somehow it wasn’t what I expected. I’ve been to all manner of conferences but at the end of this one all I could do was fall on my face in awe before the God that rescues us.

Where previously seen as criminals, victims of sex trafficking are finally being seen and treated as just that - victims. "More than 60 women with prostitution convictions have had their records cleared in New York."

Jesus comprehends oppression. He empathizes with the young girl who is oppressed by a violent offender because He too was violated. He commiserates with the agony of one abused because He too was beaten. He resonates with those who suffer because He too suffered.

Why is work so important? Have you ever mowed the lawn or finished a project at work and had a satisfied feeling that you accomplished something? That you helped someone? That you used your God given skills and gifts for good?

For years I didn't think there was anything I could do. My call to "do justice" was on the shelf collecting dust until I was confronted with the reality that human trafficking exists in MY city. Miles from my house women are trafficked for sex and men are exploited for labor. Slavery still exists in the land of the free.
