Hooded Girl

Kulsume* was a young Nepali girl caught amid a terrifying ordeal. Her trafficker, like many others, had taken advantage of Nepal's open border with India, a route often used to transport women and children into lives of exploitation. With promises of work or a better future, Kulsume was deceived and led toward the border, unaware of the grim fate that awaited her on the other side.

Just as Kulsume was about to be taken across the border, one of Love Justice International's (LJI) monitors intervened. These monitors are highly trained individuals who stand watch at key transit points, looking for signs of trafficking. They are skilled at identifying red flags—whether it's the demeanor of a potential victim or inconsistencies in a traveler's story. Their vigilance paid off that day as they intercepted Kulsume, preventing her from being sold into a life of slavery and exploitation.

Traffickers use Nepal’s open border with India to transport Nepali women and children to India for sex trafficking, often under the guise of “orchestra dancers,” where girls dance at public functions and men sexually exploit them.
